(Just then, Kai-Lan’s friends arrive)
Rintoo, Tolee, Hoho: The beach! We’re going to the beach!
Rintoo: It’s beach day, Kai-Lan!

Tolee: 我来了.
Kai-Lan: It’s our friends; Rintoo, Hoho and Tolee!

(The kids all cheer)

(They finally, arrives at the beach)
Rintoo: Awesome!
Tolee, Kai-Lan, Hoho: The beach! Whoo!
(Hoho digs a hole in the sand with his shovel)
Hoho: Look at me! I'm digging! Dig, dig, dig, dig, dig! Oooh! Look, Kai-Lan!
(Hoho has found a seashell in the sand)
Kai-Lan: Wow! Look what Hoho found. 貝殼.
Ye-Ye: Here. I’ll put the umbrella in the sand so we can all use it. But first, I need to dig a hole.
Rintoo: Oooh! Oooh! Can we help you dig the hole, Ye-Ye?
Ye-Ye: Well, I need a big hole. Who’s good at digging?

(Kai-Lan, Tolee, Rintoo and Hoho all gather around.)

(The kids start digging with their shovels)

(Finally, the hole is big enough.)
Kai-Lan: Super! You helped dig a hole for the umbrella.
(Hoho jumps into the hole.)
Hoho: Yeah! Really big!
(Ye-Ye comes by with the umbrella.)

(The kids all bury the umbrella under the sand. Rintoo gets up, goes over to Tolee and tags him.)

Tolee: (giggles) Not again.
(Tolee chases after Rintoo. Hoho follows behind, giggling. Ye-Ye spreads out a beach towel.)
Kai-Lan: Oooh, it’s time to fly the kite.
Ye-Ye: Okay, hold on tight.
(Kai-Lan holds onto the string. Once Ye-Ye lets go, the kite flies up into the sky, almost reaching Mr Sun.)
Kai-Lan: Oooh, look! The kite is flying so high. Do you like kites? Me too.
Ye-Ye: Side to side. Side to side. (Breathes in) When I’m flying a kite, I feel so calm.
(Ye-Ye continues swaying as Kai-Lan starts to do the same while still holding the kite.)
Kai-Lan: I feel calm too. I’m just like Ye-Ye.
Tolee: Kai-Lan! Look what Hoho found!
Kai-Lan: I’ll be right there.
(Kai-Lan hands the kite over to Ye-Ye.)
Kai-Lan: Ye-Ye, 以後見.
Ye-Ye: 以後見.
(Kai-Lan goes over to her friends and peeks over a sand hill, revealing two little crabs.)
Hoho: Look what I’ve found!
Kai-Lan: Oh, 螃蟹. Nice to meet you, little crabs. My name is Kai-Lan.
Tolee: I'm Tolee.
Rintoo: I'm Rintoo.
Hoho: I'm Hoho.
Kai-Lan: Now you can tell the crabs your name. Go ahead. Say your name.
(The crabs jump for joy.)
Kai-Lan: The crabs really like your name. And I do too.
Tolee: Look, Kai-Lan. The crabs have little shovels.
(The crabs start digging with their shovels)
Crabs: 挖, 挖, 挖.
(The crabs dig a small hole and pull a seashell out of it.)
Crabs: 看, 貝殼.
Tolee: Is this seashell for us?
Crabs: 對了.
(Rintoo takes the shell.)
Kai-Lan: The crabs gave us a seashell.
Rintoo: I love seashells!
Kids: 謝謝.
Tolee: Hey, Kai-Lan. Let’s do something nice for the crabs.
Kai-Lan: Good idea, Tolee.
Rintoo: Let's make them something! Uhhh........What should we make them?
Tolee: I know! Let's build a sandcastle!
Kai-Lan: Good idea, Tolee.
Tolee: A really big sandcastle, with towers and doors and windows.
Kai-Lan, Hoho: 太棒了!
Rintoo: 太好了!
Kai-Lan: Let’s go, go, go! 跟我來!
(Rintoo, Kai-Lan and Hoho run off while Tolee goes down to the crabs and draws a castle in the sand.)
Tolee: 小螃蟹. We’re going to make you the best sandcastle ever.
Crabs: 哇！城堡！城堡！
(Tolee goes over to the others, towards the shore)
Tolee: Let’s make it over here. I want this castle to be just right.
Kai-Lan: We’ll dig up some sand for you, Tolee. I know. You can help us dig up sand for the sandcastle. Let’s speak Chinese. When you say 挖, we’ll dig. Say 挖.
(Kai-Lan, Rintoo and Hoho dig up some sand and put it into their pails.)
All 3: 挖!
Kai-Lan: Again. Say 挖.
(The 3 of them dig up some more sand.)
All 3: 挖!
Kai-Lan: We need to dig up a really, really big pile of sand. So this time, say it as loud as you can. Ready? Say 挖.
(the three dig once more.)
All 3: 挖!
Kai-Lan: You helped us dig up sand for the sandcastle.
(Rintoo takes his pail over to Tolee.)
Rintoo: Here’s some sand for you, Tolee.
Tolee: 謝謝, Rintoo. Pile it right over here please.
(Rintoo dumps the sand out of his pail onto the pile and helps out with the castle building. Hoho digs up some sand and brings his pail over to Rintoo. Kai-Lan then comes by with her pail.)
Kai-Lan: Look!
(The three of them peek over the sand hill to see Tolee’s sandcastle tower.)
Kai-Lan: Wow! Tolee, that tower looks super!
Hoho: Yeah! Really super!
Tolee: It’s not done yet.
Rintoo: Those crabs are going to love it.
(Tolee is putting the finishing touches on the tower, but then a wave comes up the shore and wrecks it.)
Tolee: 哎呀! The wave knocked over my tower!
Kai-Lan: Oh, no. Don't worry, Tolee. You can build another one.
Tolee: Aw, I have to start all over.
(Tolee goes back to building the castle)
Tolee: There, the tower is all done.
(But then another wave comes and knocks it down)
Tolee: 哎呀! The wave knocked over my tower again!
Kai-Lan: Oh, no! Not again. We can help you build another one Tolee.
Tolee: No. I'll do it myself. Too many waves on this beach. Go away, waves!
(Kai-Lan, Rintoo and Hoho look a bit concerned. Tolee goes back to building the tower once again. And once more, the waves come in and wreck it)
Tolee: 哎呀! The wave knocked over my tower three times! Aargh! (US)/哎呀! The wave knocked over my tower three times! Raaaaaaahhhh! Ugh! (UK)
(Tolee kicks the sand and starts jumping angrily all over the whole castle, leaving it as a big pile of sand)
Rintoo: Whoa! What's Tolee doing?
Hoho: Our sandcastle!
(Tolee walks away angrily)
Hoho: Kai-Lan, why did Tolee stomp on our whole sandcastle?
Kai-Lan: I'm not sure, Hoho, but... ♪We gotta gotta try to find the reason why♪; Tolee stomped on our whole sandcastle.
(A thought cloud appears)
Kai-Lan: Do you remember what happened when the waves knocked down Tolee's tower? Look, Tolee was working on the sandcastle, but then the wave came and knocked over his tower. Let's listen to what he said.
Tolee: The wave knocked over my tower three times! Aargh!!! (US)/Raaaaaahhh!!! Ugh! (UK)
Kai-Lan: Then he crunched his fists tight and started stomping on the castle. Tolee looks really, really mad. Hey, I think I know why Tolee stomped on our sandcastle. Because he was mad that the wave knocked down his tower. Do you think that's why?

(Kai-Lan goes over to Tolee, who’s sitting in the sand)
Kai-Lan: Tolee, did you stomp on our whole sandcastle because you're mad?

(Rintoo and Hoho catch up)
Rintoo: But, Kai-Lan, we promised the crabs we’d make them a sandcastle.
Hoho: Tolee looks really mad. (US)/Tolee looks really cross. (UK)
Kai-Lan: You’re right. Let’s help Tolee build the sandcastle again.
Hoho: Tolee?
Rintoo: We wanna help you build the sandcas—.
Tolee: Forget it! I'm still mad. (US)/No thanks! I'm still cross. (UK)
(Tolee angrily walks away)
Rintoo: Woah! I've never seen Tolee so mad before. (US)/Wow! I've never seen Tolee that cross before. (US)
Kai-Lan: Yeah, he does look mad. (US)/Yes, he does look cross. (UK) But Tolee’s our friend. We have to help him so he’s not mad anymore. (US)/But Tolee is our friend. (The three go over to Ye-Ye, who’s still flying the kite)
Kai-Lan: Ye-Ye, we want to help Tolee build the sandcastle again, but he's too mad to do anything right now. (US)/Ye-Ye, we want to help Tolee build the sandcastle again, but he's too cross to do anything right now. (UK)
Rintoo: He's really, really mad. (US)/He's really, really, cross. (UK)
Ye-Ye: You can't do anything when you're too mad. First, you have to calm down.
Hoho: Calm? What does that mean?

(The kids eye Ye-Ye and notice that he looks rather relaxed.)

Kai-Lan: Sure Rintoo. Let’s try swaying side to side, just like Ye-Ye.
(Kai-Lan, Rintoo and Hoho all start swaying slowly.)
Kai-Lan: Sway your body from side to side. That’s it. Keep swaying. Side to side. Side to side. Now breathe in deep, just like Ye-Ye. Take a deep breath in. (Breathes in) Then breathe out. (Breathes out) You’re doing it. Super. You look really calm.
Rintoo: Yeah, I feel pretty calm.

Kai-Lan: Do you think Tolee will feel calm if he sways side to side and breathes in and out?
(Viewer responds "Yes")

(Tolee is yelling at the ocean, still upset.)

(Kai-Lan, Rintoo and Hoho go over to Tolee.)

Tolee: Hey, I don’t feel mad anymore. (Breathes deeply) I feel really, really calm.

(Tolee then starts feeling bad about what happened before.)

Rintoo: You were just mad.

Kai-Lan: Aw.
(They all hug together. The crabs then notice the sand pile.)
Tolee: Little crabs? I’m sorry I ruined your castle. I’m going to make sure you have somewhere to play.
Kai-Lan: It’s okay, Tolee. We just need to build the sand castle again.
All: 太好了!
(Rintoo, Hoho and the crabs take off while Kai-Lan and Tolee stand by the waves.)
Kai-Lan: Hmmm.
Tolee: We have to build the new sand castle in a spot where the waves won’t ruin it.
Kai-Lan: Should we build the sand castle by this rock or over by that umbrella?
(The camera zooms out to reveal a rock in the water and the beach umbrella. The umbrella is shown to be far away from the waves.)
Kai-Lan: You’re right. By the umbrella. Super thinking. If we build the sand castle by the umbrella, the waves won’t ruin it.
Tolee: Let’s start digging.
(Kai-Lan takes her pail over to Rintoo and Hoho.)
Kai-Lan: We need your help. Say 挖 and we’ll dig. Say 挖.
(The three of them dig up some sand and put it in their pails.)
Kai-Lan: 挖. That’s right. Once more. Say it as loud as you can.
(The three dig again.)
Kai-Lan: 挖. Yay! You helped us dig!
(Meanwhile, Tolee is getting started on the castle tower. Rintoo brings over a pail of sand.
Rintoo: Here you go, Tolee.
Tolee: 謝謝, Rintoo.
(Tolee accidentally knocks the bucket into the tower and falls in the sand.)
Tolee: 哎呀! My bucket fell on the tower and ruined it. Arrgh!
(Rintoo, Hoho and Kai-Lan gasp, seeing that Tolee is mad again. He then stops and remembers)
Tolee: ♪I know just what to do!♪
(Tolee starts swaying just as he did before.)
Tolee: Side to side, side to side, breathe in (inhales). Breathe out (exhales). Side to side, side to side, side to side, side to side. ♪When you feel too mad, the first thing you do… (breathes in) is calm, calm, down.♪
Kai-Lan: (to the viewer) Sing with us. (Claps twice)
All: ♪When you feel too mad, the first thing you do… (breathes in) is calm, calm, down.♪
Kai-Lan: Super singing. You helped Tolee calm down.
(The kids go back to finishing their sandcastle. Tolee is fixing up the towers, Rintoo and Kai-Lan are working on a tower of their own and Hoho pokes some holes into the sandcastle for windows. Finally, they were all finished.)
Kai-Lan: The castle looks super, Tolee! Hooray!
Hoho: Yay!
Rintoo: Awesome!
(Soon, Ye-Ye comes by.)
Ye-Ye: 真棒. I know something that’ll make your castle even more special.
(Ye-Ye ties the kite string to a rock and places it on one of the sandcastle towers.)
Kids: 謝謝, Ye-Ye.
Ye-Ye: 別客氣.
(The crabs arrive.)
Rintoo: 看. 螃蟹来了.
Tolee: Here’s your sandcastle, little crabs. We hope you like it.
(The crabs go into the castle and appear to be very happy.)
Hoho: Look!
Rintoo: Awesome!
Kai-Lan: They love it!
(Just then, a seal, a whale, some seagulls and the Hula ducks all come in to see the castle.)
Kai-Lan: Everyone loves the sandcastle!
Hoho: The hula ducks like it too!
(They all start swaying along with the hula ducks. Afterwards, Kai-Lan goes to hug Ye-Ye.)
Kai-Lan: Ye-Ye, thank you for bringing us to the beach. We had a super time. Tolee was really mad, but then… ♪he got it! He got it! He got it! When you feel too mad, the first thing you do; is calm, calm, down.♪ I’m so glad you came to the beach with us. You helped us build the sandcastle for the crabs. And you helped Tolee calm down. You make my heart feel super happy. 再見.
