Hoho (Chinese: 霍霍), alternatively spelled HoHo on the title of each episode, is one of the main characters in the Nickelodeon animated series Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. He is voiced by Angie Wu. He is an albino monkey and one of Kai-Lan's animal friends who get introduced on the premiere episode Dragonboat Festival.

Basic Information

Hoho is one of the main characters of the series. He is the smallest and youngest of Kai-Lan's friends, meaning he goes first in activities. He is very hyperactive and bounces a lot, and whenever he does it, a spring sound can be heard, so he can often be found jumping on his friends' heads. He's full of boundless energy and nothing makes him happier than being the center of attention. He has a close relationship with Tolee and Rintoo. He likes bananas, dumplings, his turntables (he plays them as the resident DJ in Kai-Lan's music group and normally stored in a tree when not in use), and anything exciting. He can't always control his emotions and can sometimes have a fiery temper when he doesn't get his way, so he sometimes needs help with them. He is very cute, adorable, bouncy, and loves playing. Hoho is also one of the smaller characters, alongside the ants, the snails, the worms, etc. During the start of the first season, Hoho’s dialogue was very minimal where he would usually say 2-3 words at a time. However, by mid-season one onward, his dialogue became more expanded.

• In the episodes "Ni Hao, Halloween" and "Kai-Lan's Big Play", he compares himself to The Monkey King, as he can jump up to high places.
• He is the only male character out of the main 4 to be voiced by a female.
• While it is unknown where Hoho lives, his home was only seen in Kai-Lan's Trip to China, during the scene where he packs up.
• Hoho is the smallest main character.
• Hoho is the only character out of the main 4 that doesn’t have a catchphrase.
• In the Downward Doghouse series, Hoho is shown to not have a tail and is nearly the same height as the other characters.
• Hoho was the first character to have his name in the title of an episode.
• Although Hoho was well-liked by children, he was not exactly a favorite among the parents due to his personality.
