Rain or Shine, or written on the title card as "Rain Or Shine", is the eleventh episode of the first season of Ni Hao, Kai-Lan
In production order, it is the fifteenth episode of the first season.
Kai-Lan and her friends have planned a fun day to play, but their activities are ruined when it starts to rain, which makes Rintoo, Tolee, and Hoho very upset. Kai-Lan must find a way to get her friends to find ways to play in the rain.
Plot[]
Kai-Lan and Ye-Ye pull a wagon up a hill toward a garden. Back down on the hill, her friends, Rintoo, Tolee, and Hoho plan to play outside. Suddenly, clouds start to form and then it starts raining. Ye-Ye brings raincoats for everyone, where they all put on. Everyone is disappointed though, that they cannot play in the rain, though that doesn't stop Kai-Lan from enjoying the rain.
Kai-Lan looks back, only to see everyone frowning. Kai-Lan asks that they are sad about not being able to play in the rain, and that they wanted to fly a kite, roller-skate, and even ride a bike. Rintoo goes forth say that you can't do anything in the rain. Kai-Lan goes to watch Ye-Ye as he uses a magnifying glass to look at snails, frogs, and animals that come out in the rain. Kai-Lan then finds the Hula Ducks jumping in rain puddles, where she then happily jumps along.
Tolee sees Kai-Lan playing in the rain puddles and laughing with the Hula Ducks. Going outside in the rain, Kai-Lan says that jumping in rain puddles makes her happy about being able to do something in the rain, and then she finds a solution; "don't think about what you can't do, think about what you can do.
Following Kai-Lan, everyone then runs in the rain, finding animals that come out in the rain, including the snails, which use the rain to operate a sled, where Tolee and Hoho ride. Rintoo still feels like he has nothing to do in the rain, until they get a lily pad to ride on in the rain. Everyone, including Ye-Ye, get together to watch Mr. Sun come out of the clouds, which he then makes a rainbow.

Trivia[]
- This is the first and only episode to:
- Reference previous episodes, as the spinning flowers were also used in Twirly Whirly Flyers.
- The only episode where "We Gotta Gotta Try to Find the Reason Why" is sung twice; first by Kai-Lan and then Tolee, Hoho, and Rintoo,
- This is also the first time Rintoo, Tolee and Hoho solve a problem instead of Kai-Lan. The only other episodes to use a problem solved by Kai-Lan's friends would be in Season two with The Dinosaur Balloon (solved solely by Rintoo) and Kai-Lan's Big Surprise.
- In this episode, however, on Rintoo, Tolee and Hoho's end, since Kai-Lan isn't having a problem like in the two aforementioned episodes released later in the series, the trio think about why she's happy rather than a problem.
- This is also the first time Rintoo, Tolee and Hoho solve a problem instead of Kai-Lan. The only other episodes to use a problem solved by Kai-Lan's friends would be in Season two with The Dinosaur Balloon (solved solely by Rintoo) and Kai-Lan's Big Surprise.
- The first episode where the "We Got It" song is sung with a different rhythm, also, this is last episode when I got it part without clapping, next episode will have clapping before I got part.
- Rintoo is the only one in the group whose rain jacket does not have a hood. Instead, he wears a blue rain hat
- The game "Where's Hoho" is likely a reference from the pilot episode from Downward Doghouse.
- The game was also previously played in Wait Hoho, Wait.
- Back in 2007, a prototype image was shown where Kai-Lan had a yellow cat-like umbrella. Her raincoat also has pointed stripes, and she is wearing her usual red shoes instead of yellow rainboots. Ye-Ye is also shown in his regular clothes.
- In production order, this is the last episode to have the Nick Jr. hearts on the Ni Hao, Kai-Lan logo, starting in Kai-Lan's Carnival, the Nick Jr. hearts were retired.
