Rintoo Makes a Splash! is the eighth episode of the second season of Ni Hao, Kai-Lan, and the show's twenty-sixth overall episode.
Summary[]
Kai-Lan and her friends head to the water park today, but trouble arises when Rintoo splashes and plays too roughly. His behavior upsets Tolee and Hoho and decide not to play with him anymore. Kai-Lan needs to teach Rintoo that he needs to play gently so that everyone can enjoy their day together.
Plot[]
Kai-Lan and her animal friends are going to a water park. Ye-Ye tells Kai-Lan that there's a surprise at the end of the water park at the gate, and gives everyone floaties. Rintoo splashes in the swimming pool, which makes Tolee and Hoho upset. Rintoo then grabs the dragon fountain, where he then showers Hoho, which makes him upset, noting that he wants to play in a gentle way. Fed up with this, he asks Kai-Lan to go to the next pool. They all go to the next pool, where they take the water slide down. Tolee and Hoho are worried that the slide is big and they might make a big splash, but Kai-Lan slides down gently and doesn't make a splash. Tolee and Hoho both slide down gently, but Rintoo makes a splash downward, which makes Tolee upset, stating that he's playing too rough. Rintoo splashes Tolee and Hoho while they are on their rafts, asking them to play with him, but they are upset because he's playing too rough. He then throws a beach ball up in the air, splashing them off their rafts and making them more upset. After Rintoo jumped multiple times to splash them, they finally had enough and decide they don't wanna play with him anymore. Rintoo asks Kai-Lan why Tolee and Hoho don't want to play with him.
Kai-Lan recaps that Tolee and Hoho don't want to play with Rintoo anymore because he's playing too roughly. Kai-Lan then watches the snails and ants playing. An ant splashes down on them, knocking them off their floats, making them upset and the other ants note that they want to play gently, not roughly. The ant that knocked the other ants off their floats said it's fun to play rough, but the other ants said it's not fun for them. So the ant apologizes for playing rough, as he didn't realize the other ants weren't having fun. The other ants forgive him, but he must play gently if he wants to play with them. Kai-Lan comes up with a solution: "If your friends like to play in a gentle way, then don't play rough." Rintoo continues splashing, so Kai-Lan reminds him to play gently that if he wants to play with Tolee and Hoho, he has to stop playing roughly. Rintoo then apologizes to Tolee and Hoho for his rough playing, and he decides to play gently so they have fun. Tolee and Hoho forgive him and everyone then rides in a caterpillar boat to head down to the gate.
Rintoo then plays roughly with the boat, moving it side to side instead of going straight, making Tolee and Hoho complain and they want to get out. After Kai-Lan tells him about Tolee and Hoho, he realizes he's driving the boat too roughly and that they aren't having fun, but he knows what to do and starts to play gently by going straight instead. They arrive at the gates with Ye-Ye, where the gates reveal whales. Seeing the whales' huge splashes, Tolee and Hoho are worried about them playing roughly, but Rintoo has an idea and tells the whales to play gently with everyone. The whales then make a water heart shape.

Quotes[]
- Rintoo: Kai-Lan, this water park looks super awesome! I can't wait to splash, splash, splash! And play with all my friends!
- Kai-Lan: Oh, no! Tolee and Hoho don't want to play with Rintoo.
- Rintoo: But what about the water park? We have to go see the surprise behind the gate!
- Hoho: Uh-uh.
- Tolee: No way. (The two don't budge, leaving Rintoo feeling hurt.)
- Rintoo: Kai-Lan? Why don't Tolee and Hoho want to play with me?
- Kai-Lan: Tolee, Hoho, is the reason you don't want to play with Rintoo because he's playing too rough?
- Tolee, Hoho: Yeah!
- Rintoo: I just want to play with everyone. Ooh, I know! We can spin like this! (Rintoo spins rapidly, making a bunch of splashes.)
- Hoho: Uh-uh!
- Tolee: No way!
- Hoho: That's not gentle! (Rintoo's splashing starts making waves, which causes Kai-Lan's raft to rock)
- Kai-Lan: Oh, no. Rintoo's still playing too rough. What can we try? It’s up to me and you. Rintoo’s playing too rough. We’ll figure out (claps three times) what to do.
- Hoho: Too rough. Too rough!
- Tolee: I want to get out!
Trivia[]
- The Scene where Rintoo slides down the waterslide and splashes Tolee was used in a 2010 Nickelodeon Playdate Promo for the Year of the Tiger
- The color of the title card is different, instead of using red it instead uses blue.
- This episode is the first of four episodes that aired during "Go, Go, Go! Week".
- This episode is considered a sequel to the season 1 episode, "Beach Day", due to it being summer-themed and the main cast wearing their swimsuits.
- While Kai-Lan, Rintoo, and Hoho's respective swimsuits are all normal, Tolee's swimwear is a whole lot different from the aforementioned episode, wearing an actual swim shirt as opposed to being shirtless with swim pants.
Remarks[]
- The surprise gate is designed in such a manner where they could walk around in the grass if they wanted to, but they don't walk on the grass.
Goofs/Errors[]
- At the entrance of the water-park, the positions of Kai-Lan change without her walking.
- If following the perspective on the previous shot, the beach ball should've landed very close to Hoho, but it lands in between Tolee and Hoho in the next shot.
- The ants suddenly move from the side of the pool to in the middle when Kai-Lan appears in the next shot.
- In the Treehouse TV broadcast schedule, the title of this episode was misspelled "Splash", which appears to be: "Rintoo Makes A Spalsh".[1]
