Sports Day is the thirteenth episode of the first season of Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. The episode premiered on August 6, 2008, as part of Nick Jr's week of new sport-filled episodes. In this episode, Hoho and Tolee quit the Dinosaur Games because Rintoo is bragging about being the best and it's making them them feel bad.
In production order, it is the eighteenth and final episode of the first season.
Plot[]
Kai-Lan and her friends are going to a sports event called the Dinosaur Games. Ye-Ye is putting up dinosaur decorations on the trees. The ants give out firefly torches for everyone, where they then run to the starting line. The first game they begin is the jumping game, where Rintoo wins and then celebrates, which upsets Tolee and Hoho a little. The next game is where they find dinosaur floaties in the field, where Rintoo wins again, stating that he's so awesome.
In the running game, the first player to reach the finish line wins. Rintoo wins again and starts bragging, claiming to be better than everyone else. This makes Tolee and Hoho feel bad, and they’ve had enough of Rintoo's attitude, so they decide to quit the games, shocking everyone.
Kai-Lan explains that Tolee and Hoho quit the Dinosaur Games because Rintoo was making them feel bad. Ye-Ye asks what happen at the Dinosaur Games, and Kai-Lan tells him that Tolee and Hoho decided to leave because Rintoo was bragging about being the best. Ye-Ye realizes that Rintoo is indeed bragging and points out that bragging means someone cheers for themselves too much without deeming how it impacts on others.
Just then, Rintoo arrives and announces that it's time to play the next game. However, Tolee and Hoho tell him they no longer wanna play anymore because he has been bragging and making them feel bad. They all then watch the ants' scooter race, where everyone compliments each other and is satisfied.
Kai-Lan offers a solution: "When you win, don't brag about what you did. Instead, say something nice, nice, nice!"
Rintoo then says Hoho is awesome at somersaulting, while Tolee is good at running, which makes them happy again. Everyone then returns to the Dinosaur games to begin the final round, the egg-rolling game. Rintoo storms the finish line again and won, but then he stops, cheering everyone up instead. They arrive at the finishing ceremony, where Ye-Ye gives out medals; Hoho gets the medal for best jumping with somersaults, Tolee gets the medal for straightest dinosaur egg rolling, the Ants get a medal for best scooter racing, Rintoo gets a medal for saying nice things to his friends, and Kai-Lan gets a medal for being the most caring friend. Everyone then goes to a dinosaur-themed slide, where Kai-Lan then gives Ye-Ye a hug.
