Ye-Ye (simplified Chinese: 爷爷; traditional Chinese: 爺爺; pinyin: yéye, "paternal grandfather") is Kai-lan's grandfather and legal guardian. He was born in China and lovingly passes on his exciting traditions to his granddaughter. He provides Kai-lan with gentle guidance, leading her to find her own answers, at her own pace. (Kai-lan's parents and other grandparents are unknown.) He can play the tuba. He also enjoys picking apples and making dumplings for Kai-lan and all her animal friends. He's known to pop out of places unexpectedly, but the gang just gets used to it after a while.

He has two brown eyes, white hair with a receding hairline and wears a black glasses, a yellow shirt, green pants, a brown vest and brown sandals.

Trivia[]
- According to Downward Doghouse, his original design was a Chinese chef with white shirt and black pants.
- According to a trademark by Viacom that dates back to 2003, Ye-Ye's original name was Grampa Chow. This likely coordinates with Kai-Lan's surname, Chow, which wasn't revealed at all in the show but on the website.
- In an early prototype of Rain or Shine, Ye-Ye was presumed to wear black shoes instead of sandals.
- Ye-Ye has 2 voice actors. Clem Cheung for when he speaks English, and Ben Wang for when he speaks Mandarin.
